The Self Care Journal

Self Care

I strongly recommend this book its "An illustrated book jam-packed with self care-related journal prompts and activities." I personally have this book and I did half of the book when I was flying overseas it helped me focus and get over my anxiety about flying, but it also helped me set goals and get all the negative out and focus on the good.

I found that this book had small fun things in it like word-searches, mazes and self care mix tapes that you create for when you're feeling a certain way. I found that I would get distracted very easily by this do it yourself book (In a good way though). I think its very helpful for people who are not taking care of them selves.

The self care journal really reminds you to love yourself.
I seriously recommend it.

Tips for Panic Attacks

   Tips For Panic Attacks

       Tips:

Please note not all of these may help its more of a trial and error until something starts to help you calm down. Also some of these tips can help with anxiety.

  1. First start by taking big breaths ( I know this seems like the most stupidly obvious thing) but taking big breaths calms you down and gets your heart rate back together.
  2. Focus your attention on something besides the physical and or mental symptoms. For example, distract yourself by saying " Big breath in....Big breath out....Big breath in....Big breath out." you should do this while doing step one, if this doesn't help try saying the words from your favorite song or book.
  3. Remember that panic attacks are uncomfortable and can not kill you. Tell yourself that nothing bad happened to you.
I learnt while I was in hospital I went under a sensory evaluation (basically its things that calm your senses) Senses are: smell, taste, sight (light or colour), sound, touch (texture or temperature) . This brings me to step 4.
4. Try and find things that calm these senses E.g. For smell I have an amazing watermelon candle witch relaxes me and calms my nerves, For Sound I have set up a special playlist on my phone and laptop that are filled with calming songs and relax me. I suggest you find things that comfort/ calm you in every type of the senses.
